The Flower Sheds its Fragrance: ARTWORKS BY LAXMI GUPTA

This series took root within within the confines of her four walls during the lockdown due to the COVID epidemic. Her mind wandered on forgotten paths, meandering on long, languid walks, picking and foraging pretty flowers and leaves to dry within the folds of mighty tomes, later marvelling at the delicate papery beauty that emerged. She envisioned gathering armfuls of wild blooms from fields, riverbanks and mountainsides, to adorn our homes with the magical resplendence of flowers.

It takes a flower to transform the environment effortlessly just by its mere presence. Flowers are an abiding inspiration for me, gliding through every possible shade of nature's colour carousel by uplifting our moods and engendering a sense of profound well being. The flower sheds its fragrance no matter what the circumstances are. It embodies the significance of planting more trees and growing more flowering plants which in turn will foster a population of bees, butterflies and other creatures to live in harmony with our ecosystem. She eniovs working in mixed media with the ebb and flow of different textures, mixing canvas with paper the minute details of pen and ink and the translucency of water colour.
