People often categorize themselves as 'beach' or 'mountain' people. I have always identified as the former. Until now. Perhaps I'm a bit of both now.
The decision to go on this adventure wasn't one I had ever contemplated. It wasn't until I stumbled upon a post by Dilshad Master Kumar, outlining her upcoming expedition in April 2024, that I began to reconsider. She spoke not of ‘conquering’ something or checking off a bucket list item, but of a deeper, more introspective journey. Her words resonated with me, prompting a choice that would alter my perception of adventure.

The 14-day journey began with its share of challenges. From grounded flights in Ramachep to a thirteen-hour wait in a bustling airport at Lukla, to a rainy start. Yet, our group adopted the mantra 'we will go when the mountains call,' and we embraced the unpredictable rhythm of the Himalayas.
Reflecting on those fleeting two weeks, time seemed both boundless and fleeting. Despite our daily trekking hours, the endpoint felt perpetually distant, each step a testament to perseverance and discovery.

The Dudh Kosi River winding through the mountains, the expansive fir and conifer forests, and the vibrant anticipation of Rhododendron blooms painting the valleys in shades of pink, red, and white. The exhilarating suspension bridges, the warmth of quaint villages and the delicious meals served in home stays run largely by women, all took me by surprise.
Ascending beyond 4000 meters, the landscape underwent a dramatic transformation—trees giving way to the stark beauty of juniper shrubs set against the backdrop of 360-degree views, revealing some of the world's most iconic peaks.

Completing this trek surpassed the mere accomplishment of reaching a specific altitude; it was a journey that was deeper and reached heights beyond the physical.
