Museo Camera in collaboration with Austrian Cultural Forum invites you all to a live Jazz Performance by the Alena Baich Quartet on the 10th January 2024 at 7PM. This performance by the quartet celebrates 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Austria.
Combining classical and contemporary jazz with traditional music. By integrating rhythmic and melodic elements of the traditional folk music and European Chanson into stylistic and instrumental expansions, and by using oriental scales and uneven rhythms, the Viennese quartet shows that jazz with can have a timeless effect. Unconventional arrangements are combined with recognizable leitmotifs from the genres of workers' song, Viennese song, Jewish Kletzmer, and Oriental-Asian scaled harmonies.
The ALENA BAICH QUARTET is passionate about getting inspired by musical diversity, mixing genres, composing in their own arrangements. The jazz quartett is seeking to break out of purely western listening habits and to reach a broader audience beyond purely American-orientated jazz worlds.
